event in the beautiful Tropicana room during Black History Month with
very special guest singer /songwriter /dancer /fashion designer WUNMI.You
saw her first as the famous braided Soul II Soul dancer showing the
world the moves of the new soul vibes
in her self designed clothes. Wunmi regularly sets the underground
dance music scene alight with London style, Lagos culture and New
York energy, she rocked the Nuyorican Soul party in Miami last March
accompanied by her percussionists along with Stephanie Mills, Jocelyn
Brown, Jody Watley, Roy Ayers, Kenny Lattimore, Bebe Winans, Louis
Vega, and more!
Wunmi was chosen as an icon of London underground club culture
when featured in Kiss FM London’s first advertising campaign and recently
featured for her numerous talents in Paper magazine’s “50 Beautiful
People” layout modeling her own clothes last March.
Wunmi’s Masters At Work produced tracks are the classic dance
floor bomb “Tribute To Fela” and “Ekabo”. Her forthcoming collaboration
with MAW will be performed at Bump N’ Hustle before being released
in spring 2001! Wunmi’s recent “What A See” track was remixed by A
Guy Called Gerald. Wunmi’s prodigious all around talent lead her to
work with artists such as UK soul outfit Soul II Soul , jazzer Ornette
Coleman, Vernon Reid and Roy Ayers. Wunmi will be featured in the
Nuyorican Soul 2 album with her own full length to be produced this
Mambo Urbano Orchestra drop their original Latin flavoured beats accompanied
by Bump N’ Hustle soul diva Divine Earth Essence to kick off the a
night where percussion rules!
Paul E. Lopes, Mike Tull and Kevin “Kaje” Johnson will be rockin’
the decks in classic Bump N’ Hustle style with host Jonbronski on
the mic and a dazzling visual photo montage curated by Stella Fakeyesi
of S. O. F. Art House.
