Joe's last performance in Toronto this past summer drew 1500 people to the hottest DJ party of the year! In classic Claussell style, the follow up won't revisit familiar ground but takes us on new adventures. Joe will be the only DJ for the evening starting the journey at 10:00.
Known in music circles for a varied selection of musical tastes, Joe Claussell has created a radically different "mix compilation". Joe reaches out to all nationalities, colours & creeds, spreading the universal spirit of electronic dance via a stunning 74 minute mix.
On Translate, Claussell pushes the boundaries of the CD, fusing timeless electronic dance with cinematic passages and soundscape pathways. A beautiful patchwork of soulful house, melodic techno and wonderful deep and uplifting music from one of dance music's most enigmatic DJs.
Interspersed with passages and excerpts made by Joe himself at Sacred Rhythm in his Spiritual Life base in NYC, the music effortlessly flits from the sublime freeform jazz of Slam Mode's "Umri" to Carl Craig's deep tech-soul builder "Sandstorms". The journey continues with the staccato strings and piano work of Alton Miller's "The Clouds Are Gone" and the Trax Records classic "Inner Visions" by Virgo 4 (aka Marshall Jefferson). Other musical highlights on "Translate" include the massive "Rej" by Ame, Vince Watson's robotic and moving "Mystical Rhythm" and a couple of Jeff Mills numbers. Claussell himself is included on the musical palette with his, as yet unreleased, "Eno" track in his Mental Remedy guise.
