Level 101 encompasses all funky musical styles. Whether it be house, Latin & Afro beats, classics, or straight-up soulful grooves, there is only one true rule- it's got to be funky!
The resident musical doctors are Mike K, Jason Klaps, & Alan Lo of Blueprint and Moreno.
The chief musical surgeon for the evening will be New York's MKL.

Born in Belize City, and raised in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, MKL truly grew up with an international influence. Spinning for 17 years, MKL has had residency and guest spots at many of New York's top club and parties: Nell's, Giant Step, Bang the Party, Body & SOUL, Joe's Pub, Life, Limelight, Mekka and the Palladium to name just a few. His BFA in photography has also led him to work with many prominent figures in the music industry on a visual level, shooting for The Village Voice, New York Magazine, Vibe, The Source, Jaguar Cars and more. The summer of 2000 had MKL on the road with the Bossa Mundo tour that rocked San Francisco, Los Angeles and Montreal.
With roots in the underground dance scene and extensive knowledge of music and art, top fashion designers & choreographers alike have come to him for music direction in their shows ranging from Cynthia Rowley, Miche Kima, Zang Toi, Ron Brown, and Kevin Wynn.
What does music mean to MKL? "It's more like what music does for me...when you are depressed, it lifts you it's an emotional ride, powerful as anything else. It can be therapeutic and it can be destructive."
His release of "Skin" and "Moments In My Life" on King Street Records with collaborator Soy Sos have set new standards in dance music. Their forthcoming album, 3 Generations Walking on Joe Claussell's label Spiritual Life Music, is a culmination of many talents, many influences, in effect history replayed. The first released single, "Slavery Days" a remake of the Burning Spear track, gives the powerful message a contemporary spin.
"I actually look forward to the changes and development [in my music]. Looking forward to the new things I'll be inspired by, the technical vs. the personal. Life events dictate my music and where it will go, therefore, I look forward to where my life will be going...". Whether on the dance floor, in the studio or working with an individual client, he carries the audience on a journey to complete fulfilment.
MKL's other singles & remixes include:
"Her Song" on Dance Tracks Records
"People From The Sun & Earth" on the Bossa Mundo album (Wave Music)
"Bey Un Bey" on Natural Resource
